Keeping it moving, we just released Steakwallet 1.7 🎉 🥩

Steakwallet (now Omni) 1.7 comes with a host of improvements and new functionality. The initial load time and general app sluggishness has been improved dramatically with this release. We've also squashed a bunch of bugs, such as balances being displayed incorrectly 🐛.

We've added support for Binance Smart Chain (BSC), xDai, Harmony One, Terra, and Juno. Steakwallet now supports many of the popular tokens on these chains.

Taking it one step further, Steakwallet now also supports staking both Terra (LUNA) and JUNO with the simple one-click staking mechanic you've come to expect. 🚀

To make your Steakwallet truly yours, we've added another new functionality: Now you can set any NFT you hold in your Steakwallet as your background for a more personalized staking experience. Looks rare. 👀

New staking integrations: Terra & Juno

Terra

Terra is a blockchain protocol that uses fiat-pegged stablecoins to power price-stable global payments systems. Built on the Cosmos SDK, Terra aims to be "programmable money for the internet" with its native stablecoin UST and the LUNA governance token. As a "Layer 1" blockchain, the team behind Terra has struck up multiple partnerships to integrate blockchain functionality in every-day payment solutions.

Terra automatically adjusts stablecoin supply based on its demand to keep the one-to-one peg. By incentivizing LUNA holders to swap LUNA and stablecoins at profitable exchange rates, the protocol can either expand or contract the stablecoin supply to match demand. LUNA holders are also able to submit and vote on governance proposals, giving it the functionality of a governance token.

Lastly, LUNA can also be staked to earn rewards. With the latest version, Steakwallet supports native LUNA staking in-app. Simply navigate to the Terra (LUNA) token in the "Prime Yields" section of the app and select "Staking". After confirming, your LUNA tokens are now staking and earning rewards.

Juno

Juno is an interoperable smart contract network built on the Cosmos SDK. It's key benefits are increased speed and cost. Developers can easily deploy smart contracts on Juno and benefit from interoperability with all networks in the cosmos ecosystem via IBC.

The JUNO token has a variety of use cases, which include securing the proof-of-stake network, on-chain governance, acting as transport fuel for all interoperable smart contracts deployed in the ecosystem, collateral in various smart contract use cases, and work token to capture value from dApps built on top of JUNO. Steakwallet now supports JUNO staking in-app. Given how new the platform is, USD price data may be missing or slow to update for now.

More blockchains supported

Binance Smart Chain

Binance Smart Chain (BSC) is a parallel chain to the Binance Chain (BC, which is Binance's decentralized exchange) that empowers its users to build their decentralized apps and digital assets on one blockchain and take advantage of the fast trading to exchange on the other. With Steakwallet 1.7, we have added support for popular tokens on the Binance Smart Chain so you can manage your BSC-based assets right in your portfolio.

xDai

The xDai chain is a stable payment blockchain that is designed for fast and inexpensive transactions and is secured by proof-of-stake. xDai is considered a Layer 2 and is an EVM-based chain. With the latest release, Steakwallet supports tokens on xDai.

Harmony One

Harmony One is an open and fast blockchain with a focus on interoperability. The Harmony One mainnet runs Ethereum applications with 2-second transaction finality and much times lower fees. The team claims that Harmony’s bridges can connect any proof-of-work and proof-of-stake chains. Harmony aims to innovate by focusing on random state sharding to make the blockchain faster. Steakwallet now supports many popular tokens that are on Harmony One.

Who doesn't love NFTs? Exactly! So we decided to allow you to use any NFT you hold as your Steakwallet app background. Make your Steakwallet truly yours and customize your homescreen with your favorite NFTs. After having added an NFT gallery with last week's release, we wanted to take it one step further with Steakwallet 1.7.

You can even select a set of NFTs which will rotate so you can enjoy all your favorite NFTs. 🖼

We will add more NFT functionality in the future and there may even be some Steakwallet NFTs appearing in the wild... 🥩 👀

⚠️ Note: Steakwallet does not yet support sending NFTs. So if you send an NFT to your Steakwallet, you won't be able to send it out again through our app just yet. We aim to add support for sending NFTs soon. You can of course connect to OpenSea.io or a similar marketplace via WalletConnect to trade NFTs.
